Port Aransas, Texas, Memorial to John Harrison and other crew members of CG2123, lost in rescue mission - September 21, 1973.
John was Kathleen's husband and my best friend at USCG Air Station Corpus Christi.
John's plane launched to drop flares for a pre-dawn man-overboard call at Port Aransas. The flares provided illumination while a helicopter
conducted a low-level search in the Intracoastal Canal. A flare malfunctioned, causing the HU16E aircraft to crash.
